What number of photographs does it take to inform a narrative? For a lunar eclipse, I discover that seven is the minimal, except you’re solely sharing the blood moon. Right here’s my Beaver Moon November 2022 model of the truncated full lunar eclipse.
Lunar eclipse captures
I made captures from round 11 p.m. by way of 6 a.m. All captures had been bracketed by 5 stops and generally ten stops made about each 5 minutes. After plenty of enhancing, I wished to inform the complete story of the Beaver Moon in as few photographs as doable. One other digicam caught the wide-angle view and star area was operating a time-lapse of the scene. A single body was used for the background and to provide the moons a star area during which to reside.
Composition
Since I watched the eclipse all night time going from prime left to backside proper, I made a decision to share it the identical approach. I positioned the moons on a slight diagonal to provide an additional sense of motion. Initially, I attempted a horizontal set of moons and it was slightly too static. Diagonals add movement even when positioned in a straight line.

Gear used
For the digicam, I used OM-D E-M1 Mark III. To seize the complete moon, I used a 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 lens with 1.4 extender for a 1120mm full body area of view. A Fotopro Eagle E6L supported the digicam. In the meantime, a second Mark III mounted with a 12-100 f/4 M. Zukio Olympus lens caught the broader view. I used Adobe Digicam RAW and Photoshop for processing and compilation of the ultimate picture.

The following seen whole lunar eclipse in North America is in March 2025. Begin working towards now, it’ll assist!
